Session: Embracing & Surviving the Cloud Shift in Open Source
The massive shift to the cloud poses a number of challenges for open source projects and you can easily back a project into a restrictive corner without a valid strategy. As projects embrace the cloud, it is important to understand the long-term survivability of decisions made to provide better cloud support. For example, it is great to support Microsoft Azure or AWS, however, transitioning to ONLY support one of these clouds can severely limit the marketability and reach of a project. Project leaders will need to employ different strategies to manage projects to embrace the cloud while retaining more broad support for alternative clouds or more traditional models. This session is based on real-world experiences an open-source management experience.
