Student Scholarships Available

Student scholarships to ATO 2021 proudly made available by the teams at Google Open Source and IEEE Standards Association.

Since 2013 scholarships have enabled thousands of students to attend the conference and learn from the world’s best speakers and make new connections.

And we’re thrilled to make them available again in 2021, thanks to the Google Open Source and IEEE Standards Association teams.

What are the scholarships?

Students scholarships are designed to allow qualified students to attend the in-person portion of All Things Open 2021 for free. The goal is to save those students registration dollars and provide them with lunch each day of the event (Monday, October 18 and Tuesday, October 19).

Who’s eligible?

Students from accredited 4-year and 2-year colleges and universities are eligible. In addition, students from code schools and public and private high schools are eligible also.

Are scholarships competitive?

The short answer is no, not in 2021. There are plans to make a number of competitive scholarships available in the future (that include a travel stipend), but that will be post-COVID.

Do scholarships cover travel?

At this time (and this year) they do not cover travel expenses. COVID has resulted in many logistical and budgetary challenges, so unfortunately travel expense reimbursement will not be possible.

How do I apply for/claim a scholarship?

We consistently work with many colleges and universities and code schools to make scholarships available, including NC State UniversityUNC Chapel HillDuke UniversityWake Forest UniversityShaw UniversityNorth Carolina A&TUNC CharlotteClemson UniversityThe University of South Carolina, and many, many more.
