Koren Townsend is a Sr. Project Manager at Red Hat, where she focuses on supporting projects in the Marketing Operations team. She has been with Red Hat for 9 years.

Koren is a technology industry veteran, with a combined 20 years of QA, Developer, and Project Management experience ranging from small start-ups to the leading software company in open source technologies today, Red Hat. She helped to revamp the entire redhat.com website, implement a content management tool to support the site, and helped to deploy the learning management system (LMS) to several countries around the world. She has been working on the Digital Adoption team to develop WalkMe implementations for Red Hat tools and products. Most recently, she is a Project Manager on the Marketing Operations team.

After completing her undergraduate and graduate studies at North Carolina State University, she started her career as a software developer and then moved into quality assurance where she went on to be a team lead and managing offshore team members. And then recently moved her career into the Digital Adoption industry.

Koren actively promotes diversity within I.T. and engineering fields. She is a founding member and on the leadership team of Red Hat’s Diversity and Inclusion communities: Blacks United In Leadership and Diversity (B.U.I.L.D.) and past co-chair of the Women’s Leadership Community – I.T. (WLC-IT) chapter.

In the community, Koren serves on the Her Spark Advisory Board and volunteers with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure RTC chapter. She is a member of Knightdale-Wake Forest Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she has served as the Chapter Journalist.

She has spoken at numerous events to promote diversity in tech: All Things Open Conference, SKEMA Business School, Wake Tech Career Development program, HER Spark STEM Camp for Girls, Women > A Force in Business Panelist, Wake Tech Women in Tech, and Red Hat Summit@Sites.

Koren and her husband of 16 years are raising their two sons in Raleigh, NC. She enjoys traveling, running, crossfit, and spending time with her family.
