Session: Value-Stream Mapping within Open Source Ecosystems

The need to understand how open source software is built has never been greater. Using value-stream mapping within OSS Ecosystems, IT managers can measure the time taken in different stages across the software development process (lead time, delivery + testing time, etc) to identify and eliminate process waste to increase efficiency, throughput, and effectiveness.

In order to effectively manage and report the status of open source software development processes, IT managers need a solid understanding of value-stream across the different open source projects (OSS ecosystems). The goal is to decide effective corrective actions when needed. Questions value-stream mapping answers include:

  • How efficient is the open source software being built?
  • Where are the bottlenecks when answering issues and pull requests?
  • How well does the open source development process across many projects align with internal product development?

This talk is open to every IT leader, OSPO manager, and community builder willing to learn more about value-stream mapping within open source ecosystems. Prior experience with software development analytics would be helpful but is not needed.
