An open platform on which everyone can contribute content and ideas that can freely be accessed by everyone in the world – this was the original vision of the web.
With protocols like HTTP, TCP, and FTP, the internet itself sought to be decentralized and permissionless. Unfortunately, without decentralized data, payment, or compute layers, we had to make due with the tools and technologies of our time.
With breakthroughs in technologies like scalable permissionless ledgers and decentralized web infrastructure, there is a movement that is working to realize the original vision of the web. But what does this look like?
In this talk I’ll show how people are building a fundamentally different set of applications, experiences, and organizations than anything that we have seen in the past, and what to expect in the next 5 years.
