Session: How to Burn out Developers and Alienate Contributors
Large open source project have a high throughput of contributors with only a (relatively) small group of paid or otherwise permanent members.
Such an imbalance, paired with real or perceived entry barriers, risks putting projects into a corner that they have a hard time getting out of.
This talk highlights various anecdotes from my history with teaching and open source and discusses where and how open source communities succeeded in attracting (and keeping!) a diverse group of contributors.
